Structural Insulated Panels

Friday, July 3th @ 2:00pm in Breakout Room #2 (White Medium)

You are invited to come to the 2:00 P. M. seminar explaining SIPs and ICF’s to learn about the product qualities and characteristics and then attend the panel discussion at 3:00 to discover more about how to use them in building your own home or commercial building.

The structural/thermal/air barrier envelop of a traditionally framed house accounts for 80% of its energy savings or loss; therefore it follows that use of energy saving products and how tightly the house is constructed will have great impacts on the amount of energy the house will use. SIPs (structural insulated panels) and ICFs (Insulated Concrete Forms) are the best way to provide the most efficient building envelop. www.eco-panel.org

Join Eco-Panel as they discuss:

  • What the true measure of efficiency is when you talk about R-Values?
  • What makes the building envelop energy efficient?
  • What makes the building envelop sustainable?
  • How do SIPs and ICFs translate into normal design and construction?
  • How can you incorporate these products into remodels and additions?
  • What is it like to live in a home built of SIPs and/or ICFs?
  • How difficult is it to actually build homes out of these materials?
  • What are the costs of ICFs and SIPs vs Conventional Framing?

Community Cohesiveness

Saturday, July 4th @ 2:00pm in Breakout Room #1 (Red Large)

Join Sharon Miranda in a discussion on Community Cohesiveness If you think about the definition of community, you would include, in that thought, the glue that is at the core of  community. The glue that supports a decisive intelligent community of choice. Natural community formations do have an opportunity for cohesion, as long as their population is small enough and the diameter of the residential areas is within walking distance.

No longer living in such a culture, we are now blessed with the internet to not only close those gaps back up, bringing those people back together, and accommodating large populations to return to core communications, but we are also bringing people together across the globe. We are becoming a “Country in Air”. And through this cohesion of communication streams and routing systems we get many levels of benefits. Subtle: multi-media optimized learning, visibility and transparency in business due to “Populace Communication” systems. Obvious: trading, supporting, saving. Surprising: getting to know one another. The result - an intelligent community in love with itself.

Community Weaving

Saturday, July 4rd at 2:00pm in Breakout Room # 2 (White Medium)

Creating a Local Living Economy for the Rogue Valley

Sunday, July 5th @ 1:00pm in Breakout Room #2 (White Medium)

Ownership of business in a region by the people who live there is the cornerstone for better outcomes in economic development, ecological stewardship and social equity.  Local buying, through the magic of multipliers, increases local income which in turn allows further investments in local development. Targeting the core sectors of food, energy, materials, finance, and health services with the concepts of local ownership, self sufficiency, zero-waste, and circular-economy concepts, can bring a green economy at the regional and, indirectly, the global scale. This talk looks at the inter-related forces of local ownership, local buying, import substitution, export growth, local capital accumulation and investment, and their contributions to improving social equity and ecological health. It also highlights important connections between the local, regional economy with the global one.
