PORTLAND, Ore. - In an ongoing effort to 'go green,' Oregon Health & Science University has now installed an electric car charging
station for its patients, visitors and staff.
The charging station is located on the fifth floor of the large parking structure across from Doernbecher Children's Hospital on Southwest Campus Drive.
OHSU funds and a donation by Robert Buys, M.D., who works at the Casey Eye Institute and drives an electric vehicle, made the charging station possible.
"I have always been a proponent of electric cars," Buys said in a news release. "I saw this as an opportunity to help OHSU become even more green."
The charging station can accommodate up to four electric vehicles and is available on a first-come, first-served basis.
The hospital may add more charging stations if demand increases.
